Steel Calculator Pricing
Compare Steel Calculator plans and find the right structural engineering software subscription for your workflow. Every plan includes full access to all calculators with step-by-step derivations across AISC 360, AS 4100, EN 1993, and CSA S16 design codes.
Steel Calculator Plans
Steel Calculator is a browser-based structural steel design tool that runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly. There are no downloads, no plugins, and no installation. Choose from three subscription tiers based on your calculation volume and export needs.
Free ($0/month)
The Free tier gives every engineer full access to every calculator on the platform. There are no feature restrictions on the calculation engine itself.
- All calculators and reference tables included: bolt capacity, weld capacity, base plate design, beam capacity, column buckling, gusset plates, splice connections, anchor bolts, and more.
- Full derivations and intermediate outputs for every calculation, with code clause references.
- 10 calculations per hour / 50 per day for registered users, or 20 lifetime calculations for anonymous visitors.
- No exports -- results are displayed on-screen only.
- Ad-supported -- non-intrusive ads help fund ongoing development.
Pro ($19.99/month)
Pro is designed for practicing structural engineers, detailers, and consultants who run calculations regularly and need exportable documentation.
- Everything in Free, plus:
- 500 calculations per month -- enough for regular professional use across multiple projects.
- 30 exports per month in DXF, CSV, JSON, and SVG formats -- ready for CAD import, spreadsheet analysis, or archival.
- Ad-free experience across the entire platform.
- Priority bug fixes -- issues reported by Pro users are triaged first.
Pro Plus ($34.99/month)
Pro Plus is built for high-volume users: engineers managing multiple concurrent projects or firms with a single heavy user.
- Everything in Pro, plus:
- 1,000 calculations per month -- double the Pro allowance.
- 30 exports per month in all supported formats.
Enterprise (custom pricing)
For teams of 5 or more, we offer volume licensing with centralized billing, higher limits, and dedicated support. Learn more about Enterprise plans.

Who Needs Pro?
Steel Calculator Pro is the right choice if any of these apply to your workflow:
Consulting engineering firms
Structural consulting firms that run preliminary design checks, connection verifications, or feasibility studies benefit from Pro's 500 calculations per month and exportable results. DXF exports integrate directly into AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD platforms for inclusion in design documentation.
Design-build contractors
Design-build teams that need quick structural checks during bidding, value engineering, or field coordination use Pro to generate calculation records that can be attached to submittals or RFIs.
Structural engineering departments
In-house structural departments at fabricators, mining companies, or infrastructure owners use Pro for routine checks -- base plate sizing, bolt group verification, beam capacity screening -- without tying up expensive FEA licenses.
Independent engineers and freelancers
Solo practitioners and contract engineers working across multiple small projects benefit from the calculation volume and export capability without the overhead of a full structural analysis suite.
Students and researchers (transitioning to practice)
Engineering graduates entering practice can use Pro to build confidence with code-compliant calculations across all four major design standards.
Supported Design Codes
Every calculator on Steel Calculator supports multiple international design codes. Calculations include clause references, phi factors, and code-specific parameters for each standard.
- AISC 360-22 (LRFD) -- American Institute of Steel Construction. Specification for Structural Steel Buildings, 16th Edition.
- AS 4100:2020 -- Standards Australia. Steel Structures. Includes limit state design for connections, members, and stability.
- EN 1993-1-8 -- Eurocode 3. Design of steel structures, Part 1-8: Design of joints. Used throughout Europe and adopted in many other jurisdictions.
- CSA S16:2019 -- Canadian Standards Association. Design of Steel Structures. Covers connections, members, and stability for Canadian practice.
All code engines are embedded in the WebAssembly binary and run entirely client-side. No calculation data is sent to a server.
Export Formats
Pro and Pro Plus users can export calculation results in four formats:
- DXF -- Drawing Exchange Format for direct import into AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Revit, Tekla, and other CAD/BIM platforms. Exports include geometry layers, bolt patterns, weld callouts, dimensions, and annotations.
- CSV -- Comma-separated values for spreadsheet import (Excel, Google Sheets). Includes all inputs, intermediate values, and final results in a tabular format.
- JSON -- Structured data format for programmatic use, custom reporting, or integration with in-house tools and databases.
- SVG -- Scalable vector graphics for high-quality diagrams in reports, presentations, and documentation. Resolution-independent output.
All exports include a complete record of inputs, assumptions, code references, and results for documentation and traceability.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Steel Calculator cost? Steel Calculator offers a Free tier at $0 with full calculator access, Pro at $19.99/month with 500 calculations and 30 exports, and Pro Plus at $34.99/month with 1,000 calculations and 30 exports. Enterprise pricing is custom.
Can I use the site without creating an account? Yes. Anonymous visitors get 20 lifetime calculations with full access to all tools. Creating a free account increases your limit to 10 per hour / 50 per day and enables result persistence across sessions.
What export formats are available? Pro and Pro Plus users can export calculation results in DXF (for CAD import), CSV (for spreadsheets), JSON (for programmatic use), and SVG (for vector graphics). Export files include all inputs, outputs, and assumptions for documentation purposes.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time? Yes. Pro and Pro Plus are month-to-month subscriptions with no long-term commitment. You can cancel at any time and retain access through the end of the billing period. There are no cancellation fees.
Is there a student or educational discount? Educational institutions interested in providing access for students should contact us about Enterprise plans with educational pricing.
What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Annual invoicing is available for Enterprise customers.
Do calculations count if I change one input and re-run? Yes. Each time you submit inputs and receive results from a calculator, that counts as one calculation. Browsing reference tables, reading guides, and viewing the site does not count toward your limit.
Is my data secure? All calculations run client-side in your browser via WebAssembly. No calculation inputs or results are transmitted to our servers. The only server communication is for authentication, subscription management, and export file generation.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan? Yes. You can switch between Pro and Pro Plus at any time. The change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Do you offer team plans? Yes. Enterprise plans include multi-user access under a single billing account with centralized administration. Contact us for team pricing.
